Hendon, Caleb and Brittany and family
Peru, AGWM
Caleb and Brittany Hendon have been serving as missionaries to the Unreached People Groups along the Amazon basin of Peru since 2017 and became full appointment missionaries in March 2020. They have served 8 years as missionaries in Yurimaguas, Peru with their three children Emma, Isabella, and Lucas.
Their work in Peru includes church planting, discipleship, children and youth ministry, and orality training. Caleb served as the Regional Youth Director in Yurimaguas for 3 years, is the Director of the Oral Bible Seminary in Ullpayacu, and the National Director of Orality in Peru. They believe that the telling of stories through orality is the golden ticket to reaching those indigenous groups where very few read or write. Men and women attend these trainings and learn various biblical topics through these stories that they can bring back and share among their people with the goal of new churches being planted among different tribes, nations, and tongues.
The Hendon family has felt God leading them to the southern part of Peru to a city called Arequipa where there has not been a missionary for almost 30 years. It is home to 1.8 million people with only 8 A/G churches of less than 40 people in each. They have a project to start an Oral Bible Training Center there to raise up a new generation of pastors and church leaders to take the Gospel further than they could ever go.
They are currently home on itineration and are prayerfully hoping to return this summer if fully funded.
